Responsible Parrot Care & Adoption Information:At Rainbow Parrot Rescue Florida, we prioritize education, proper diet, lifetime care, and veterinary attention above all else. Exotic parrots require
significant knowledge, time, and resources—please research the care requirements for each species before considering one as a pet.
We recommend prospective owners:
- Be experienced with parrots or willing to learn
- Be home most of the day
- Be financially prepared for long-term care
- Have the right environment to meet the physical, mental, and social needs of these amazing birds
Note: Larger parrots, such as macaws or cockatoos, are not ideal pets for most people. All parrots require a pellet-based diet and fresh food—seeds alone are insufficient!
Surrender Guidelines:- Contact us via our Surrender Line: 904-775-1211 (SURRENDERS ONLY!)
- Birds should be healthy and preferably vet-checked within the past year. Please provide any veterinary paperwork if available.
- Upon arrival, all birds are quarantined, and necessary bloodwork may be performed to ensure they are healthy before joining our sanctuary.
- Birds with contagious or serious health issues require proper donations and assessment prior to intake.
Important:- All donations for surrender are non-refundable, and tax-deductible receipts will be provided.
- Surrendering your bird is a full relinquishment. Once a bird is surrendered, the previous owner will no longer have visitation rights. This is standard practice for all rescues and ensures the safety of our sanctuary flock.
- Proper documentation (polyomavirus, avian psittacosis, PBFD, DNA sexing, and other relevant tests) is required. If tests are not current, we can assist with a minimum donation.
Our Commitment to Your Parrot(s) Being Surrendered:- Health checks and DNA sexing
- Behavior training and socialization
- Love, attention, and enrichment in a safe, HEPA-filtered environment
- Incredible care with quality education behind everything we do
- Socialization with other birds and people. Flock instinct is real, and important, and we understand the significance of their need for others.
- We are transparent in our processes, upfront about timelines and expectations, and dedicated to finding the best outcomes for both birds and people.
- We have integrity, and take our responsibility of parrot care very seriously. We strive to help all those we can.
Join our mission: Support ethical parrot rescue, learn about proper care, and help us create a safer, healthier world for these remarkable animals.
